Artillery Progress
Yesterday I drew up some first draft sprites for the new ranged unit, the rocket carrier. Today I put these sprites into unity to use as placeholders, assuming they need another draft, spoilers they will. Regardless, I thought some people might like to see the first draft of the new unit.
I actually make these sprites in a light greyscale, and recolour them in the engine; this means I don't have to make another sprite for the other team's units. However, this can also make things difficult to discern in my image editor, and I think that really shows here.
I have a few issues with these current sprites:
- The front wheels aren't centred on the cabin
- The shape of the rocket isn't clear with the details blending with the chassis and the fuselage blending with the gantry
- the design of the gantry leaves it unidentifiable, especially with rocket obscuring most of it
- the coloured nose of the rocket takes away from the shape of the rocket

While I was hoping the sprites would be good enough to be a final draft, I never expected them to be more than place holders. As such, I still think I should be able to finish this update by the end of August.
